À bientôt Paris, ¡hola Barcelona!

We didn't sleep much last night, as the anticipation of getting to another city will do.
The bags had been packed last list night so all that was left to do was take that waking shower, drink a cup of ordinary instant coffee and head off up the hill to Gare du Nord.

It was just another morning commuting from one European country to another, including having the Charles De Gaullle airport traffic controllers go on strike for two hours.
It was no great inconvenience for us but there were more than a few people with connecting flights that were less than impressed.
Two hours flying  took us to Barcelona and a 30 minute bus trip took us from the airport to the centre of the city. Another 10 minutes walk and we were at our apartment.
By 15:30 we were unpacked and ready for our first walk into the Gothic area to plan our night of sangria and tapas.
The day is warm, high 20's, and the streets are full of people enjoying the weather.
On our way back we wandered off the major roads to see what the back alleys had to show.
We ended up at the Gaudi cathedral, which was enjoyable in itself, but there was a very pleasant surprise in
in the stalls that were in the plaza out front.
A guy with quite a few curios also had crates of mint LP's from all sorts of decades.

Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Bowie, James Brown, Jethro Tull etc. etc..
All mint, all rare but not cheap. We'll go back tomorrow and take some pics and maybe buy an album or two.

As the locals head out for dinner at ~9 the bars are reasonably empty at 8 so that is good time for folks like us to get some service. The downside to "early" dining is that it's hard to know which bars are the good ones because they're all relatively empty.
We Googled, as one does, and decided that Carrer de la Merce might be a good place to start looking.
After a quick wander around the area we decided on a place nearby to our starting point called Sensi Tapas

Later in the night we were told by a young Swedish couple who come here often that this bar was the second most recommend tapas bar in the area.

Well, we ended up very pleased with our choice, and to contradict anything I may have said about not posting pics, here a whole swag of them -
Our charming waitress

Our multilingual and charming waiter
The result after a few Sangria

This was a yummy Chocolate Fondant - choc cake with gooey choc center

Roast pork - about to be devoured

Padronas Peppers & Iberian Pork Tataki

Duck Timbale & Mushroom Creme (it's like a mushroom creme caramel)
Sangria at the Sensi Tapas

At the end of the bar are a few tables, though all the fun is at the bar

Americans and Swedes eat here too1

Adios for this post and we'll report back later.
